MEET CARLA

Community-Focused Legislation to Move North Carolina Forward

Carla Fassbender, a North Carolina educator since 2004, understands the importance of quality public education, protection of our resources, and ensuring health care is accessible and affordable all.

Carla has been involved in politics since an early age, and has previously held office in Wisconsin, where she was raised. She has a bachelor's degree in Spanish, with emphasis in education and ethnic and racial studies from the University Wisconsin, La Crosse. She earned her master’s in educational leadership from American College of Education, and a Juris Doctor from Charlotte School of Law.

Carla was motivated to seek office because of her desire to keep North Carolina a great place for future generations. This includes adequately funding high-quality public education preK to post-secondary and ensuring students have jobs that pay living wages here in North Carolina. Carla moved to North Carolina in-part because it was a state rich with natural resources, and she wants to protect those resources for future generations to enjoy.

In her work with public school children, Carla has seen the importance of providing a well-rounded education, including consumer, life-skills, and civics education. Students further need education to understand what online information is reliable, and how to access community resources.

As an elected official, Carla promises to listen, and make decisions based on what is best for the future of North Carolina!

Endorsements:Equality NC, North Carolina Association of Educators, NC League of Conservation Voters (Conservation PAC)

When she isn't teaching or advocating for her students and community, Carla enjoys gardening, spending time outdoors, travel, spending time with friends and family, and cooking.
